“As far as I knew no one had ever written such a show
(as Urinetown)—for obvious reasons—and the novelty
of the thing seemed worth exploring… (and) demanded it
be a musical.”– Greg Kotis
Urinetown, the musical
Music & Lyrics by Mark Hollman

What is Urinetown? The question runs through Greg Kotis and Mark
Hollman’s hilariously pointed Tony Award-winning musical, which manages
to be self-deprecating and terrifyingly relevant at the same time. The musical takes place in a future in which water supplies have so dried up that it is truly a “Privilege to Pee,” and all bathrooms are controlled by a large, heartless corporation. The show draws its artistic inspiration from sources as varied as Bertolt Brecht and South Park, melding them into one of the most original musicals of the last decade.
“Exuberant and
cheeky. A zesty, fullbodied original.”
