IU Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance is proud to present three time Tony Award-winning producer Harriet Newman Leve as part of the Ralph L. Collins Memorial Lecture Series.
Ms. Leve is presently producing the award winning New York and National Tour productions of STOMP, created and directed by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, and the critically acclaimed large format motion picture entitled PULSE: a Stomp Odyssey, which garnered the Giant Screen Theater Association’s Film Achievement Award. Leve currently has a feature film in development with Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner, and Jane Anderson is the writer and director of this project.
Leve is also co-producing the world premiere musical Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, which ran at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco from September 24, 2013 to October 20, 2013 before it began previews on Broadway on November 21, 2013. It opened at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on January 12, 2014 and is currently playing an open-ended run.
Upcoming producing credits with the Raise the Roof partnerships include the Broadway premiere of Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Neil Patrick Harris. Hedwig will start previews at the Belasco Theatre on March 29, 2014 and opens on April 22, 2014. Raise the Roof is also partnering on the Broadway revival Of Mice and Men starring James Franco, Chris O’Dowd, and Leighton Meester. Based on the literary classic novel by John Steinbeck, the Broadway production starts previews at the Longacre Theatre on March 19, 2014 and opens April 16, 2014 for a limited engagement Leve is also co-producer of the War Horse National Tour. Recent Broadway productions include ANN written and performed by Emmy Award-winning actress Holland Taylor, the new Gershwin musical Nice Work If You Can Get It starring Matthew Broderick and Kelli O’Hara, the smash-hit comedy One Man Two Guvnors starring James Corden, the Tony Award winning production of War Horse at Lincoln Center, Theresa Rebeck’s Dead Accounts starring Katie Holmes and Norbert Leo Butz, the Tony Award winning productions of Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps, and the Tony Award winning production of Alan Ayckbourn's The Norman Conquests.
She was also a co-producer on the National Tour of La Cage Aux Folles starring George Hamilton.
With the Raise the Roof partnerships, Leve co-produced The Mountaintop starring Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett, Burn the Floor on Broadway and the National Tour, Tracy Letts’s Superior Donuts at the Music Box Theater on Broadway, Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music starring Catherine Zeta Jones and Angela Lansbury, La Cage Aux Folles three-time Tony Award winning production starring Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodges.

Ms. Leve was the Vice President of Development for Tony Bill Film Productions and taught film workshops at the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. She also wrote a chapter for the Commercial Theater Institute’s Guide to Producing Plays and Musicals. She is a member of The Broadway League and was on the Board of Directors of New York Stage and Film for four years.
