Read moreCreative activity abounds in our department: it is in our everyday DNA. Research is embedded into our craft and practice, a requirement for bringing drama and dance to life. We consider the history of our craft, the critical significance of particular works, and the logistics and technologies of production.
There are many components to the research we do, and to our many creative activities. They involve managing productions, acting on stage and in film, writing screenplays and dramas, and staging choreography. Our faculty and students write about their work both on stage and behind the scenes, contributing to the literature about the technical and social dimensions of theatre, drama, and dance.
Our faculty members are renowned professionals in their areas of expertise. They publish with regularity and participate in research that is at the forefront of the field. They are professional performers, directors, designers, writers, and dancers who perform around the world.
Our graduate students complete fully realized projects each year, collaboratively staging works that reflect their points of view. Undergraduates are involved in our performances, and initiate projects of their own.
Our award-winning alumni contribute to the world of the performing arts all over the world.
