In addition to the University Graduate School online application and our departmental admission requirements, applicants to the M.F.A. in Design and Technology program need to complete additional criteria for admission. Applicants to the Design and Technology M.F.A. programs are NOT required to take the GRE exam for admission.

Students are admitted into the program after proving competency as shown by their portfolio, statement of goals, and required on-site interview. Apply to attend the U/RTA National Unified Auditions and Interviews OR schedule a private interview in New York, Chicago, or on the IUB campus. Applications are evaluated by members of the Design and Technology Faculty Committee for quality of portfolio, writing quality, and professional potential.

Your portfolio can include appropriate sketches, renderings, working drawings, light plots, photographs, sound tapes, and other materials that demonstrate technical skill and creative ability in your area of special interest.

Provide a resume that lists your creative work in the theatre and related areas.
