Theatre Circle was founded in 1978 by champions of the performing arts at Indiana University. It gives our members a more intimate glimpse of the study and practice of theatre within our department, while cultivating a community of engaged audience members.

Theatre Circle members are acknowledged in all IU Theatre programs. As dedicated contributors to our department, they receive emailed information about all of our performances, and are invited to glimpses behind-the-scenes.

Theatre Circle opportunities include exclusive talks by directors, designers, and theatre scholars. Members receive special event invitations and a monthly newsletter about upcoming events and opportunities.

Our Associate Producers Program creates opportunities for funding of productions. Support is also provided for student recruitment, Showcase Events, Guest Speakers, and other needs as they arise.

Advocacy + applause

As some of our strongest advocates, Theatre Circle donors promote an awareness of theatre throughout our region and the public at large. Most importantly, their applause and their generosity support the work of our students. Your Theatre Circle investment in IU students provides:

Scholarships and awards
Theatre programs
Travel for guest artists and scholars
Travel and housing for students to professional conferences to deliver academic papers, exhibit designs, or demonstrate skills
Ads in professional journals and broadcast media to help recruit the nation’s best students
Technical support, including assisted listening device system, large-print programs, advanced copies of plays
Funds for special projects, including internships and hospitality events for students

Spotlight: Allison Marshall, Theatre Circle Scholar Award Recipient

Allison Marshall is a junior majoring in Theatre & Drama and minoring in Arts Management. For IU Theater: Hamlet (Player/Ensemble). For IUST: Little Women (Amy March). For University Players: Stage Kiss (Laurie). For IU Independent Projects: For the Living (Various Roles). Regional Theater Credits: Evil Dead: The Musical (Annie). Other: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Titania), Seussical (Mayzie la Bird). Allison currently serves as the Director of Development for University Players, and is the recipient of the Catherine Feltus Preston Scholarship, as well as the Dr. Frank Hrisomalos Memorial Award. She is a nationally recognized performer in the National Speech and Debate Association. Allison is from Fishers, Indiana.
