is an American Costa Rican, and Spanish 20 year old, majoring in contemporary dance with a minor in French at Indiana University. Sofia started dancing at age 2 and since that time has studied ballet, tap and jazz. She began studying flamenco 7 years ago in her home country of Costa Rica with professional dancer Rebeca Shamah and continued learning through virtual sessions when she moved to Indiana in 2018. She has traveled to Spain to get immersed in Flamenco culture and attend master classes with famous artists in the cities of Seville, Madrid and Barcelona. Since 2018 Sofia has been invited to perform as a solo dancer for the city of Bloomington concert series, Black y Brown Festival, Latino Fall Festival and Lotus World Bazaar, which has allowed her to share the Flamenco culture with the Bloomington community.
