About Callie Rekas

Callie Rekas is a dance and drama educator, artist, and scholar. She earned her M.A. in Dance Education with an emphasis in Ballet Pedagogy at NYU and is currently pursuing her PhD in Arts Education at IU, with an emphasis in Dance. Her research interests include embodied knowledge, early childhood education, and feminist pedagogy. Callie is a member of SAG-AFTRA, a committee member and frequent presenter for the National Dance Education Organization, and serves as Chair of the City of Bloomington’s Commission on the Status of Children and Youth. Callie is fully certified to teach the American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum (Pre-Primary-Level 7) and has taught dance at Interlochen Arts Academy, American Youth Dance Theatre, the JKO School, and more. In January 2025, Callie co-founded BloomingArts Theatre Company alongside Devin May. BloomingArts is a pre-professional training ground for musical theatre students, aiming to prepare students for the professional arts world; for more information, please see www.bloomingartstheatre.com.
