Percussionist Dylan Shane, from Frisco, Texas, is a master's student at the IU Jacobs School of Music, currently pursuing a Master’s in Percussion Performance and studying under Kevin Bobo, Joseph Gramley, Joseph Galvin, Andy Miller, and Sean Dobbins. Under Wayne Wallace’s guidance, Shane also studies composition and arranging. Shane has performed in a wide variety of ensembles at IU including the Latin Jazz Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, IU Drumline, as well as various other IU orchestras and bands.
Shane currently teaches adjunct at both Center Grove High School and Bloomington High School North where he is responsible for indoor percussion, jazz band, private lessons, and more!
In collaboration with a Bloomington based jazz quartet, Shane has an upcoming jazz-funk-fusion lbum releasing in January 2026 under the name “The New Distraction”.
Dylan Shane was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Jacobs School of Music in 2024.
