Abby Jones is originally from Greenwood, Indiana where she trained at her local studio The Dance Company of Indianapolis in styles such as Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, and Tap. She has hopes to graduate this May from Indiana University with a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance and a B.A. in Psychology. She has had the opportunity to be in main stage production performances such as Sounding Bodies performing in Shadow and Flame by Elizabeth Shea and SALT by Erik Abbott-Main, Earthward performing in Counterpole by Elizabeth Shea and Kavin Kaattil-In the beautiful forest by Dr. Prathiba Natesan Batley, and in several senior compositions in the senior capstone showcase New Moves/New Directions. She has also had the opportunity to perform in many other productions such as the Junior Choreographic Performance Project, SLIP, First Acts, the MoCo Showcase, and various Independent Project performances since her freshman year. In addition to dancing, Abby enjoys choreographing and teaching any chance she gets. Abby also enjoys traveling home to set choreography and teach at her home studio. In July, Abby had the opportunity to travel abroad for Dance Italia’s summer program where she studied for four weeks working intensely with various teachers and being able to perform in works set by choreographers from all over the world. Abby is also certified in Pilates (2020), is the recipient of the CHAI Summer Research Essay Prize, and had the opportunity to perform in New York City in July. Post-college, Abby has hopes to continue dancing professionally as well as continuing choreographing and teaching. Abby also has plans to go back to school and get her masters in dance and potentially in dance therapy as well. Abby would like to thank everyone who has helped get her to where she is today. She is overwhelmed by support and love from her family, friends, teachers, and professors at Indiana University.
