About Samwell Rose

Samwell Rose is a current first-year M.F.A. Director. Originally from Colorado, they began their career in theatre as a teaching assistant and actor at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. They hold a B.A. in Theatre Arts (performance) and minor in Russian from Lewis & Clark College. While they love creating all kinds of theatrical work, their passion is collaborative devised theatre.

Sanctuary City is their first production as an Assistant Director at IU. Recent Denver credits: Willy/Nicky at Buntport Theatre (director, co-deviser, facilitator, producer), Once Upon a Mattress and Build-a-Play at Girls Athletic Leadership Academy (director), Fun Home at Vintage Theatre (Associate Director) and the 2024 Henry Award-nominated production of Stonewall at Benchmark Theatre (Associate Director).

In their spare time, Samwell loves spending time with their dog, exploring beautiful nature spots, and drinking boba.
