Rae Sarokin is a Senior at Indiana University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance. Rae has performed in the works of Justin Sears Watson, Katie Phelan, Iris Rosa, and Elizabeth Shea within Journeys of Joy, Cultural Immersion, and Reconstructed/Reframed performances for Indiana University Contemporary Dance. Rae has also danced in numerous student choreographic works during her time at IU. She has choreographed for the IUCD Junior Choreographic Performance Project (2023), and Echoes (2025). Rae has attended dance intensive programs including Dance Italia (2023) and NYCDA Summer Intensive (2019), where she worked with artists such as Maya Orchin, Stephanie Nelson, Suzi Taylor, and Joe Lanteri. Before her time at IU she grew up training in San Diego, California at Prodigy Dance Company and in Canyon Crest Academy’s Dance Conservatory. Her training consists of a wide range of styles such as ballet, contemporary, jazz, afro-cuban, hip hop, improvisation, partnering, acrobatics, etc. Rae has years of experience teaching younger dancers, in styles such as jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop. She trained as a competitive gymnast from the ages 7-10. Rae also has a musical theater background and has performed in multiple shows such as Beauty and the Beast, Mulan, Aladdin, and Peter Pan.
