Cody Watson is a senior soon to be graduating with B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance Major and a minor is Arts Management. Before coming to IU he began his dance training at Style Dance Academy dancing there for four years. At his studio, he studied dance styles such as jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, and ballet. During his time here at Indiana University he has been in several yearly departmental dance showcases, performing in various works such as Home by Rennie Harris, Ego by Juel D. Lane, Counterpole by Elizabeth Shea, and Beclouded by Cameron McKinney. These showcases include Making Spaces, Hatched, New Moves 2019 and 2021, Bodies in Bold, Sounding Bodies, Shifting Landscapes, and Earthward. To further engage in his art form throughout his studies, he has been involved in student-run organizations at IU such as University Players and Movement Cooperative. For several semesters he has performed and choreographed for University Player’s annual show SLIP. He is also on the board of the Movement Cooperative as a social media representative. This is a movement based organization lead by student to provide an outlet for other students to attend and hold various dance events. Post-college he aims to pursue his dreams as a professional dancer in either the commercial or concert dance realm.
