Most of our classes require attendance at Theatre and Contemporary Dance productions throughout the semester. To receive credit for attending the productions, we have created a very simple system for you.
Any time you attend a Theatre or Contemporary Dance performance, you will need to bring your student ID, and get it scanned twice. You will visit the Assistant House Manager or House Manager before the show and get scanned in, then see them on your way out of the theatre at the end of the show to get scanned out. That’s it!
To scan you in before the performance, the Assistant House Manager will always be available right outside the Lee Norvelle Center Box Office, stationed at our Assisted Listening Device stand between the Box Office and the House Right entrance to the Ruth N. Halls Theatre, across from the mezzanine staircase.
Once you’ve scanned in, enjoy the performance! After the performance is over, you’ll need to be scanned out.
For performances that take place in our Wells-Metz Theatre, simply exit the theatre through the main doors and the House Managers will be there to scan you out and send you quickly on your way.
For performances that take place in our Ruth N. Halls Theatre, no matter where your ticketed seat is, please exit the theatre through the mezzanine exits, at the very back of the seating area. The scanners will only be available at these exits, and not at the exits near the stage, so please be sure to exit only through the back of the theatre or you will not be able to scan out. Once you leave the seating area of either theatre, we will not accept your ID for scanning, so please don’t forget to scan out as you leave for the evening.
We’ll take care of letting your instructors know you’ve attended the performance. All you have to do is bring your ID, get scanned before and after the show, and be on your way. If you are performing, or on crew, please choose any day during the run to scan in/out, and you will only have to do it once for that production.
If your ID is unable to be scanned for whatever reason, please see a House Manager to assist you.
We hope this will be a quick and easy way to let you focus on the performance, and not have to worry about getting your attendance credit.
