Allison Povinelli is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. She trained at her local dance studio The Dance Refinery in styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Acrobatics, and Contemporary. She plans to graduate in May of 2024 from Indiana University with a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance and a Media Advertising B.A. She has taken the opportunity to be in main stage production performances such as Earthward where she danced in Kavin Kaattil-In the beautiful forest by Dr. Prathiba Natesan Batley, Journeys of Joy where she performed in Roots to Fruits by Robert F. Burden Jr. and Schemata by Justin Sears-Watson. She has taken the opportunity to perform and choreograph in other productions such as the Junior Choreographic Performance Project and SLIP. She also has performed in several compositions within the senior capstone showcase New Moves/New Directions (2021, 2022, and 2023). In July of 2022, she was given the opportunity to perform at the FETNA convention in New York City, and was recently accepted to Dance Italia’s contemporary dance summer program in Lucca, Italy. Post-college, Allison has dreams of dancing and choreographing professionally.
