About Allison Povinelli

Allison Povinelli is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. She trained at her local dance studio The Dance Refinery in styles such as Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Acrobatics and Contemporary. She was in classes at age 3, joined the competition team starting at age 7 and continued through age 18 for a total of 15 years. After high school, she was accepted into the Indiana University Contemporary Dance B.F.A. program where she spent the last 4 years studying contemporary, ballet, modern, tap, jazz, Afro-Cuban, Capotechnique, Bharatnatyam, Horton, Limon, Bill Evans, Graham, House and Musical Theatre. There, she took the opportunity to be in main stage production performances such as Earthward and Journeys of Joy. She has both performed and choreographed in student lead productions such as: the Junior Choreographic Performance Projects (2020 and 2023) and the senior capstone showcase New Moves/New Directions (2021, 2022, 2023 and now 2024). She plans to graduate in May of 2024 from Indiana University with a B.F.A. in Dance and a Media Advertising B.A.
