Jeff Baldwin is a seasoned technical director and educator with over 15 years of experience in theatrical production and stage technology. He has led technical direction for a wide range of productions in both indoor and outdoor venues, including Tent Theatre, Indiana Festival Theatre, and the Lyceum Theatre. His professional portfolio includes automation design and programming for the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, along with technical and consultation work for the Musical Arts Center, Gulfshore Playhouse, and the University of Oklahoma.
Jeff holds a B.S.Ed. in Speech and Theatre Education from Missouri State University and an M.F.A. in Theatre Technology from Indiana University, where he currently leads the Theatre Technology graduate program.
His research centers on motion control systems and scenery automation, with a particular emphasis on integrating critical safety components into stage automation to advance both pedagogical and industry best practices. Prior to his career in the arts, Jeff served in the United States Marine Corps in a Raider infantry boat unit. His military experience has shaped a leadership style grounded in discipline, strategic thinking, and team development—qualities he brings to both the classroom and the stage.
