Set in the 1930's at harvest time in Ireland's County Donegal, the play introduces the five Mundy sisters through the reminiscences of Christina's son.

Though the sisters struggled with little money and few prospects, he remembers the hope they had and the joy they found in the random moments when the radio, which only worked intermittently, suddenly filled the room with music.
