Kander and Ebb is the award-winning Broadway writing team made up of John Kander (music) and Fred Ebb (lyrics.) They had one of the longest-running and most successful Broadway writing partnerships of all time, collaborating for over 40 years. Their musical Chicago, is the second longest running musical in Broadway history, and won six Academy Awards for its film adaption. Their musical Cabaret won them their first Tony award and later garnered eight Academy Awards including one for their life long muse, Liza Minnelli. Their musicals include Flora the Red Menace, Cabaret (Tony for Best Score and Best Musical), Zorba, Chicago (Tony for Best Musical Revival), Woman of the Year (Tony for Best Score), A Happy Time, The Act, The Rink, Kiss of the Spiderwoman (Tony for Best Score and Best Musical), Steel Pier, Curtains, The Scottsboro Boys, and The Visit. They famously wrote many songs for Liza Minnelli including her signature hit "Liza with a Z," for which they won an Emmy award, and "New York, New York," which most recently has been adapted into a Broadway musical.
